After unveiling a cozy and utra glamorous denim collection, Topshop has just presented its spring/summer 2016 catalogue, and it’s so full of summer 2016 trends and inspirations it will make anyone feel the urge to go shopping. Lensed by Giampaolo Sgura, the catalogue features one of the girl-power squads of the fashion industry, namely that of Amilna Estevao, Antonina Petkovic, and Julia Jamin. Behind the scenes there was another formidable squad, composed of art director Ronnie Cooke-Newhouse, creative director Kate Phelan, makeup artist Petros Petrohilos and hair stylist James Rowe. All together they managed to give the right attitude to the catalogue, serving as the perfect finishing touches for the lovely outfits showcased.
The Topshop summer 2016 collection intertwines the Seventies with Nineties inspirations, riding the same wave most of the retailers and fashion houses have been riding for a few months now. That said, the catalogue still focuses on all those little details you won’t likely find anywhere else and that make this collection so unique and different from all the others available. Throughout the proposals you will easily find sheer Seventies frocks with preppy-inspired V-necklines, country-chic pleated womens dresses combined with fancy sunglasses with mirrored lenses, and even bomber jackets with ethnic embroideries combined with shredded short shorts. The collection itself could be regarded as a cool potpourri of different fashion experiments that are very dear to the newest generations of young women.
Other interesting designs from Topshop for summer include sheer long dresses for women with netfish detailing, sleek, relaxed shirts, clean-cut wrapped dresses mimicking Vivienne Westwood’s creations and, of course, billowy short culottes with laced hems, which truly are the core of Topshop’s Nineties fashions. Then, although frills embellish most of the country-chic dresses, that does not mean Topshop has not enough space to bare the shoulders with some edgy tactic cut-outs.
As for the prints, Topshop almost solely focused on floral embroideries and multi-colored stripes, which not only were one of the most fashionable prints available in the Nineties, but also have made a comeback this year. Aside from the bold colorful stripes, the collection’s color palette is overall soft and relaxed, with all its black or whites, dark burgundy and blue combinations, as well as delicate pinks and greens adorning most of the floral embroideries.
Complementary one-pieces will help you and your BFF have the day of your life at the beach, while the enormous variety of sunglasses will give you a different pair to wear for every occasion.
