With summer just around the corner, many of us are looking for the foolproof trick to prevent our nail polish from flaking after a few days. To extend its lifespan, Agathe Pons – Spokesperson Essie Pro – gives us her advice.
Between the beach and the pool, it’s not easy to keep a manicure at the top in summer! Base, top coat… However, there are some effective and quick tricks that can prolong the holding of your nail polish. Agathe Pons, Expert Manicure and Spokesperson Essie Pro, tells us how to stay impeccable until the end of the nails.
HAVE CLEAN HANDS FOR A LONG-LASTING MANICURE
It’s all silly, but having clean hands before applying your varnish changes the whole game! “You should always remember to wash your hands with a non-greasy soap before applying your varnish, especially if you used solvent just before,” explains Agathe Pons.
DEGREASE NAILS WITH ALCOHOL
“To make the nail polish hold better, I also advise to degrease the surface of the nail with a cotton pad and a little alcohol to allow the base to adhere well to the nail without residue of fat,” says the Manicure Expert.
AVOID DOING YOUR MANICURE IN THE SUN
Many do not know it but as Agathe Pons points out, nail polish and heat do not mix! “You have to avoid doing your manicure in the sun. Indeed, nail polish does not support the heat that causes the appearance of bubbles on the nail”. All in the shade so to put his nail polish!
APPLY A BASE BEFORE VARNISH
The most lazy among us will have to get used to it: a base is essential for a good hold of the varnish. “I can never say it enough but we must not ignore the application of the base which allows a better grip and a better resistance to nail polish. The base also protects the nail from the pigments of the varnish that tend to turn it yellow,” says Spokeswoman Essie Pro.
CAREFUL APPLICATION FOLLOWED BY A TOP COAT
The way you apply your nail polish also plays a very important role in holding nail polish. Agathe Pons advises first of all to apply a first very thin layer on the nail and then to apply a second one for a uniform result and an impeccable rendering.
To revive the color and shine of his manicure but also to prolong his hold, the application of a top coat is essential. “The top coat is an essential to have! It is applied after the varnish to accelerate the drying time and bring shine but also between two manicures for a better hold and a perfect rendering”, informs the Manicure Expert.
We recommend that you use the adequate manicure and pedicure set to take care of your nails: file them, polish them, apply a base.
